During my nine years as a body-worker and massage therapist, I have continually worked to increase my knowledge and skill so that I can most effectively help my clients. Along the way, I have become a certified yoga instructor, studied Thai Massage, worked on hundreds of clients, and graduated from the Rolf Institute of Structural Integration. In 2010, I took the next step in my journey, and became a student in the University of Delaware's Doctor of Physical Therapy program, where I am currently studying.

I believe that, as with any therapy, body-work is most effective when the client and therapist work together as a team to achieve the client's goals. When I perform manual therapy, I use the most-effective techniques and modalities from the various advanced trainings I have received and work along with my clients to create a case-specific treatment program, custom-tailored to meet each client's individual needs. I primarily work by releasing trigger/tender points and releasing restrictions ("knots" and "tight spots") in the muscles and fascia in order to relieve pain, create ease of movement, improve alignment, and help to get my clients to feel as if they're flowing effortlessly through gravity. I draw heavily on the training I received at the Rolf Institute of Structural Integration and my time as a Certified RolferTM to help identify overall patterns in the body's alignment and posture which, when successfully addressed, can relieve chronic pain and tension and create the sense flowing effortlessly through gravity. I occasionally draw on other techniques and modalities, including Deep Tissue Bodywork, Trager, Bodytuning, Thai Massage, and the use of heat or ice to achieve the best results for my clients.

Over the years, I have helped people suffering from chronic low back, neck, and shoulder pain, false sciatica (piriformis syndrome), TMJ pain, carpal tunnel syndrome, chronic headaches, people recovering from accidents, injuries, surgery, and childbirth, and lots of folks who were just dealing with the aches and pains of daily life. Kelly Diamond dances professionally for First State Ballet Theatre in Wilmington, DE. She first discovered Rolfing three years ago while seeking relief from a chronic ballet injury. After exhausting all other therapies and treatments, the relief that Rolfing brought was remarkable. Knowing first hand what it is like to live with daily pain, Kelly is thrilled to bring this effective form of bodywork to others. Kelly has successfully completed her first unit of training at the Rolf® Institute and is a Certified Skillful Touch Practitioner.

Skillful Touch is a form of bodywork developed at the Rolf® Institute to prepare students in the tactile and professional skills needed for the later practice of Rolfing®. It involves the deep, slow and sensitive application of techniques, tools and movements which contact and effect specific body tissue layers and structures.

Skillful Touch does not attempt to treat nor diagnose somatic conditions. Its therapeutic effects arise from its emphasis on heightened perception and somatic awareness. Skillful Touch’s therapeutic benefits include relaxation, greater range of movement and flexibility, and increased body awareness.

Kelly is currently pursuing a Rolfing Certification at the Rolf® Institute of Structural Integration and looks forward to beginning her second unit in April 2012. She plans to graduate as a Rolfer in July 2013. Thank you for your interest as Kelly establishes her practice here in Wilmington.

Anne-Marie graduated from The Atlanta School of Massage in 1995. She was licensed by the Florida Board of Massage Therapy later that same year and certified by the Virginia Board of Nursing in 1997. She began her ongoing study of CranioSacral Therapy in 1997. She completed her training at The Rolf Institute® of Structural Integration in Boulder, Colorado and became a Certified Rolfer™ in 2002.

In 2007 she became certified as an Advanced Rolfer after completing the Rolf Institute's advanced training program. In 2007 she was certified by the International Association of Structural Integrators. Throughout her career she has completed hundreds of hours of continuing education related to her field.

Anne-Marie is certified in CranialSacral Therapy from the Colorado Cranial Institute.

Jason has been in private practice offering Rolfing Structural Integration since 2005. He received his training at the Rolf Institute of Structural Integration in Boulder, Colorado and became certified in Rolf Movement in Barra do Sahy, Brazil. Before practicing at Empowered Yoga, Jason, a Pennsylvania native, practiced in Wyomissing, Pennsylvania, serving the greater Reading area where he still maintains a limited practice.

Jason has a deep passion for the study of human form and function. He is intrigued by how people move and relate to the world around them. To deepen his understanding of Rolfing, he received extensive training in spinal biomechanics, gaining the tools and knowledge to work very specifically with the tissues of the body. His Rolf Movement sessions elicit awareness of habitual movement patterns that are not beneficial to the client. After observing a client’s movements, Jason works to explore new movement possibilities applicable to everyday life. He loves to share the work of Rolfing with people of all ages and lifestyles. His compassionate and non-judgmental approach allows for a client’s process to unfold in a safe and comfortable environment.

When Jason is not Rolfing, he loves to be active. While walking, riding his mountain bike, practicing yoga, or rock climbing, he is always exploring how he moves and embodies his experience.

Lingling, the practitioner in Acupuncture & Herb Center in Bryn Mawr was a physician and professor in Shanghai, China. She graduated from Shanghai medical school, one of the best in China with special training at the internationally respected Shanghai Traditional Chinese Medical School and Shanghai Acupuncture Institute. She worked at Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia for three years.

Lingling is a licensed Acupuncturist in Pennsylvania and certified in Acupuncture and Herbology by the National Board. She is well-trained and experienced in both Chinese and conventional medicine. Her familiarity with conventional medicine and knowledge of Tai Chi and Qi Gong greatly enhance her acupuncture and herb practice. She has successfully helped many people with various conditions ranging from infertility to low back pain with her 26 years of experience.
